About Ernie Zarro, CPA

Ernie Zarro is an accomplished corporate finance executive and licensed CPA recognized for providing outstanding financial leadership and strategic direction. His experience ranges from large corporations (public and private owned) to small & medium sized businesses as well as non-profit organizations. Ernie recently founded Flex CFO where he provides fractional accounting, FP&A, CFO and tax services to SMB’s.

In his 22-year tenure at J.P. Morgan Chase, Ernie executed several leadership roles for lending businesses across automotive finance and asset management. As CFO for both consumer and commercial lending business units, he managed complex P&L’s, rigorous FP&A processes, capital budgeting and relationship pricing to drive growth and profitability. Most intriguing to Mr. Zarro is the opportunity to partner with a CEO through use of his technical and financial modeling skills to drive strategic direction and manage execution. Ernie punctuated his auto industry experience at JPMC by helping develop and execute an insights & advisory service to provide actionable analytics to auto dealer principals.

While working for JPMC, Ernie simultaneously worked as an independent contractor for Taxpert Tax Service where he provides accounting and tax services to individual and corporate clients. Ernie’s ability to pivot from the dynamics of a large matrixed corporate environment to the demands of small business and individual clients is evidence of his technical skills, energy level and relationship management focus.

Ernie’s experience with non-profit organizations comes from Saint David’s School where he served as the Director of Finance. The school was in the early stages of transition to accommodate future growth and required more advanced financial management to succeed. Through collaboration with the headmaster, department heads and board of directors, Mr. Zarro elevated business office productivity to meet the growing demands and complexity of school operations.

Ernie earned his BS in Accounting and MBA in Corporate Finance from Fordham University. He is a licensed CPA in the state of New York and is a QuickBooks Online Certified Pro Advisor. Mr. Zarro earned the Enrolled Agent (EA) status for tax practitioners as issued by the US Department of Treasury and is a member of the National Association of Tax Professionals (NATP). Ernie also holds certification in FP&A Modeling. He is a big believer in professional development, constantly honing his accounting and corporate finance skills through classes and workshops. In his spare time, he loves to work on his golf game or paddle the water’s edge in his kayak. Ernie lives in Ossining, NY with his wife and three children.
